Cherry Blossoms in Spring always reminds me of the incredible l day I shared with Masae Satouchi and her kimono class at Roosevelt Island in New York! Please click on the images to see them large size!
Let me tell you a little about Masae. Besides being a wonderful friend, she is a prize winner in several major hairstyling contests including a grand prize in the all-Japan hairstyling contest.
She is a certified and trained kimono dresser and received her master-instructor's license from the renowned international Yamano Kitsuke School in Japan.
She opened NY Kimono Academy in NYC 2018. She instructs in the history of Geisha and kimono dressing in a variety of venues including The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Masae is also known as a Neo Geisha performer and CEO of HANNARI Entertainment. She is a preacher of Japanese authentic beauty that is revolutionizing the art of Geisha to a new generation of women in the world. She has produced and directed shows unifying diverse styles of art, fashion and dance through her own unique vision of color and beauty. You can learn more about what Masae has to offer at https://www.masaesatouchi.com/
Throughout the day Masae was on hand instructing her students in the proper wearing of kimonos and my highlight of the event was the Japanese style traditional lunch. A good time was had by all! I used my Canon 5d Mark lll to capture the event and a Flashpoint Ad200 for lighting that I purchased at adorama.com.
Special thanks to my friend Lina Lansky, who captured the event on video for me. She's an excellent videographer/ producer and you can find her on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/persona_1ll/.
